Criminal Law

Criminal Defense Law involves prosecution by the state or federal government of a person or business for an act that has been classified as a crime. A "crime" is any act or omission of an act that is in violation of a public law forbidding or commanding it. Crimes can be easily classified as "misdemeanors," which are less serious offenses normally punishable by a fine, and "felonies," which are serious offenses that warrant imprisonment or one or more years.
